Fighting to Stop the National Animal Identification System (NAIS)

The Legislature has passed a bill limiting the authority of the Department of Agriculture to creation of a voluntary program (unless federal law should require a mandatory program). However, the bill also includes a troubling Section 2, authorizing the Ag. Dept. broadly to "collect information" about all types of farming (livestock and crop) operations. (HB 254)
