Latin America is the part of that history and has a vast variety of culture and history in it to be read. It is important to note that history of Latin America is a lesson for many states in the contemporary world as well. It was the period of colonization and merger of different cultures.
What era was of Latin America?
Latin America comprises of the region from the colonization period. It includes the colonies of Spain and Portuguese. It was the time of early fifteenth century to the nineteenth century. After the war of independence wars and the developments, world has witness till the end of the WWII.
The terrain of Latin America:
Latin America generally consists of the whole of South America in addition to the region of Mexico, Central America. The islands of Caribbean is also considered as the part of the Latin America. The people of the island of Caribbean mostly speak the Romance language. It was indeed a large area and because of this large terrain the administration of the area becomes a difficult task and that has become one of the main reason of the ongoing conflicts in the area.
The initial history of Latin America:
The history begins from the first occupation by the Europeans to the end of the twentieth century which was the era of the last world war. The end of the era was right before the industrial revolution. It has an Iberian background and has the influence of Iberian culture. Before the invasion of Europeans to the land, it was the era of pre-Columbian civilization in the terrain.
The difference between Latin America and Anglo-America:
The distinction is merely based on the language spoken at that times. Roman language and English language. There was no homogeneity in the language or in the culture as aforementioned it was a vast area so it was difficult for the administration to impose one language or one culture in the whole area.
Currently, there has been several states that come in the region of Latin America. Many people often criticize the concept of Latin America. The intellectuals are of the view that the term Latin is not appropriate here. It must be replaced with the term Hispano. As the region has mostly Spanish influence. After the wars of independence, many states become republic states. The destruction of the concept of colonization has assisted many states of the Latin America to get independence. In the contemporary world, almost all the states of Latin America now are independent states with all the sovereignty rights. The formation of United Nations in the late nineteenth century further gave the states separate powers and the right to decide their affairs on their own. This independence of states changed the global map and the international arena.
