Write USDA and Congress!

The USDA has finally released its November User Guide in the Federal Register for comments. It has also released two technical documents: a Program Standards and Technical Reference document and a technical specification document for the animal tracking databases. Go to:

The two technical documents are not yet on USDA's website. As soon as we get them, we will post links on the Liberty Ark website, along with our analysis of them.

It's critical that you send your comments about the User Guide and other NAIS documents to your Congressman and Senator, as well as the USDA. Congress who needs to be educated about the issue! If you do not know who represents you, go to: http://www.congress.org/congressorg/home/ and enter your zip code in the box on the left-hand side of the page.

To make the greatest impact, write your elected officials a short, personalized letter telling them why this issue is important to you and what NAIS would do to your life. Then enclose a copy of Liberty Ark's or FARFA's comments as a detailed analysis of the flaws with the latest plan, and ask for hearings to be held to investigate USDA's handling of the NAIS program.
